Some taxi drivers who operate in downtown Kingston today joined the protest action by their counterparts in other sections of the Corporate Area.

Yesterday, drivers who operate in Half Way Tree withdrew their services.

Today, the downtown taxi drivers created a convoy along popular streets and then used their vehicles to block some roads.

They also used debris to block the roadways.

The taxi drivers are upset about new fines and penalties contained in the new Road Traffic Act.

They also raised concerns about police harassment and rising operating costs.

The Bill was recently approved by the House of Representatives and is to go before the Senate on Friday.
