55-y-o British man arrested on drug charges at SIA

A 55-year-old British man was arrested and charged yesterday by Narcotics police at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St James.

He has been identified as Anslie Bernard, a truck driver of Birmingham, England.

Bernard was charged with Possession of Ganja, Dealing in Ganja and Attempting to Export Ganja. 

Reports are that about 6:30 p.m., Bernard was about to board a flight destined for Manchester, England, when he was stopped and his suitcase searched in his presence.

During the search, ganja weighing approximately one pound was found. He was subsequently arrested.

The drug has a street value of  $4,000.

He is scheduled to appear before the St James Parish Court on Friday.
