The Management of the Half Way Tree Transport Centre in St Andrew has been transferred from the Port Authority Management Services Limited, a subsidiary of the Port Authority of Jamaica (PAJ), to the Transport Authority.

The change took effect on September 1, 2018 and staff at the Port Authority Management Services Limited have been moved over to the authority for the continued efficiency of the centre.

This changes were disclosed in a Ministry Paper from cabinet that was recently tabled in Parliament.

The PAJ was appointed as the implementing agency for the construction of the centre and to be responsible for its management.

Port Authority Management Services Limited was incorporated on June 5, 2007, for the sole purpose of managing the operations of the transport centre.

An agreement was signed in the September of that year for a five year period which was renewed on June 1, 2011, for an additional five years and terminated on May 21, 2016.

Cabinet pointed out that it was decided in September 2016 that the management of the transport centre be transferred from Port Authority Management Services Limited to the Transport Authority and that the entity be wound up.
