Uchence Gang Trial | Witness says cops at Commissioner's office refused to take his statement

A former gang member of the Uchence Wilson gang today testified that he visited the Police Commissioner’s office where he tried to file a report about the gang’s activities.
The witness made the revelation under cross-examination by attorney-at-law CJ Mitchell as the trial for Wilson and his 23 alleged gang members continued at the Home Circuit Court in downtown Kingston.
"Dem tell me seh the case too big. Dem can’t manage it," the witness said, referring to cops at the Commissioner’s office.
The witness, who is a former security guard, told the court that he also tried to file a report at the Matilda’s Corner, Half-Way Tree and Mandeville police stations.
He said during his visit to the Matilda’s Corner police station, the cops there expressed disbelief at what he was saying and did not take a statement.
According to the witness, someone there also informed accused Fitzroy Scott and Tashina Baker that he was there.
The attorney suggested that the witness was being sought by the police, but he refuted the claim.
"I was in the police station. They would have said something to me if they were looking for me," the witness said via video link from an undisclosed location, adding that it would have been common sense.
Earlier, the 21-year-old former gangster admitted that he stole from Baker more than once.
Mitchell asked if his conscience didn’t bother him for doing that.
"That would never bother me because I know where it was coming from," the witness replied, saying the items he took had been earlier stolen.
Wilson and his alleged 23 gangsters are on trial for breaches of the anti-gang legislation between 2015 and 2017.
