A bail application is expected to be made when Peta-gaye Ffrench, the woman charged with stealing a day-old baby from the Victoria Jubilee Hospital in Kingston, reappear in court on April 18.

This was disclosed by attorney Rachel Donaldson when Ffrench reappeared in court today.

Parish judge Sanchia Burrell ordered that full disclosure in the case be made on or before March 29 and that the investigation officer be present for the bail application.

Ffrench was arrested on February 5 when she attempted to register the stolen baby at the Registrar General’s Department in Twickenham Park, St Catherine.

Officials at the agency became concerned after she gave conflicting information about the child’s birth.

She also presented an infant passbook and identification card among other documents.

The investigation officer today told the court that a probe remains under way to determine how Ffrench was able to obtain the documents.

"If someone else is in it, they need to join her in lock-up," Burrell said.
