‘Acknowledge Christ in all your ways’

The Word coming out of the fasting service at the Greater Bethlehem Temple Apostolic Church in Yallahs, St Thomas, on Wednesday was one encouraging people to acknowledge Christ in all their ways as the popular Bible character David did.

Basing her address on Psalm 17, the moderator of the short service noted that it is important to consult God on all actions and plans regardless of how minute they are believed to be.

“The scripture says in all our ways, we should acknowledge God, and He shall direct our paths.

“Some people believe that we should only tell God of our big moves and not the ones we look at as normal or nothing, but it’s not so.

“So say, for instance, you’re leaving your house to go sweep outside your gate. It makes sense for us to say, ‘God, I’m going outside to sweep my gate, so please direct my path.’

I’m not saying something is wrong if you go outside to sweep or that it’s sinful, but at the time you plan on going you might pick up an attack, get involved in an accident or something worse.

“So David is saying that ‘God, please direct my path at all times so my foot doesn’t slip at all’,” she said.

The young woman went further to explain that at times, people leave their houses in good spirits but have their peace disturbed because they failed to inform God of their move and wait for His direction.

She said: “It could be something as simple as the shoes you wore burst off your foot or that your outfit got splashed with muddy water or things of the sort. If we had acknowledged God, He would have directed us, and we would keep our peace, but until we reach the stage where we acknowledge Him in all our ways, then we will forever be attacked by the devil and have our peace robbed or disturbed.”

“A good man’s step is ordered by God, and we can’t just allow Him to order some of our steps and not all. So every part of our lives, no matter how small, we should allow Him to order it. Some of the things in life that we suffer, we shouldn’t, but because of disobedience and lack of consultation, we hurt. Those that are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God, and as long as the Spirit of God leads us, we will be at peace,” she noted.
