Coca-Cola gives away $100,000 in groceries

Coca-Cola Jamaica has granted St Mary resident Berton Williams $100,000 worth of grocery items as the winning prize for his participation in Coca-Cola’s PAN 2019 raffle competition on October 27 at Grizzly’s Plantation Cove in St Ann.

PAN, over the last 15 years, has become one of the most anticipated events on the local ­entertainment calendar, with a key feature being the utilisation of ‘jerk drums’ to prepare what has become known as the staple cuisine of any outdoor event in Jamaica.

PAN allows patrons to feast on the flavourful cuisine prepared by competitors vying for cash prizes and bragging rights as the CB PAN Chicken champion. Coca-Cola Jamaica, distributed locally by Wisynco Group Limited, sponsored the annual event for the second consecutive year in keeping with the brand’s alignment with events that bring families and communities together.

This year, Coca-Cola further collaborated with organisers CB Foods with the addition of the fun Coca-Cola PAN raffle. Brand manager of Coca-Cola Jamaica Amoye Phillpotts-Brown shoved the reason for its continued support of PAN.

“We like to highlight the versatility of the brand and how it pairs perfectly with meals. A meal that is authentic to Jamaicans is jerked chicken, so we thought it was the perfect fit for us. Generally, foods with jerked seasoning go well with the refreshing taste of Coke,” Phillpotts-Brown said.

“We had a palate display of groceries in our 360° bar, and so the winner actually took away his groceries on spot,” she added.

At the event, each purchase of Coca-Cola counted as an entry into the raffle for the special prize. The hundreds of attendees at PAN were extremely excited by the enticing display of groceries on location.

The stocked display of groceries included snacks, cereal, juices, sodas, and much more. An elated Berton Williams expressed his immense gratitude to Coca-Cola. “Everything I won is very useful and handy. I said to my wife, ‘I am a lucky guy’. It’s a good thing that I drive a pickup, so it was able to hold everything,” Williams said.
