23-y-o charged for robbing elderly man at bus terminal

The man is to go to court on Wednesday, December 04.

A 23-year-old man has been charged for robbing a senior citizen who was awaiting public transportation at North Parade in downtown Kingston.

He is Michael Laing, otherwise called 'Mark', of Charles Street and Rose Lane, Kingston, who have been charged with robbery with aggravation.

He is scheduled to appear before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Wednesday, December 04.

Reports from the Central police are that about 8:04 p.m. on Monday, November 11, the elderly man was at the bus stop when he was approached by Laing, who reportedly removed his wallet from his back pants pocket containing $12,000 and other personal documents.

The elderly man realised what had happened and tried to retrieve his possessions, however, Laing brandished a knife and then fled the scene on foot, according to the police.

A report was made to the police and Laing was subsequently taken into custody and charged on Tuesday, November 26.
