Gleaner’s 'Knight Out' fetes fathers

The late American Evangelist Billy Graham once said, "A good father is one of the most unsung, unpraised, unnoticed and yet one of the most valuable assets in our society."
The Gleaner's Lifestyle team decided to dedicate a night towards celebrating amazing paternal figures, as they geared up for Father’s Day.
Dubbed ‘Knight Out’, the specially invited sirs, received a scrolled invite, beckoning their presence to J Wray and Nephew’s @twentythree recently, for what promised to be an occasion of flavourful feastings from Ashebre; the finest, full bodied mixes the Appleton brand had to offer, and of course, funloads of adventure.
Once the Knights arrived, they made the bar their round table. Sparse conversations in no time, developed into a mingling frenzy, against the backdrop of sounds from DJ Laron. They lounged in both comfort and style, courtesy of furniture from Courts Jamaica. Some were even seen enjoying tasty coffee from Mountain Bliss 876.
Master of Ceremonies for the evening’s proceedings, Marlon Campbell, effortlessly broke the ice and gathered all fathers to come forth and partake in the question and answer segment, as well as other activities.The most auspicious moments came into play when our knights took a stroll down memory lane and imparted insightful lessons they have learnt in their roles as fathers.
Main attraction, Virtual Reality Jamaica, had our daddies escaping reality and entering the realm with their variety of video games to choose from. The reserved mani corner from Totally Male Spa, had hands covered, leaving fathers in a state of rest and relaxation.
The only presenter for the evening, Courtney Sylvester, senior vice president of sales service and client experience at Scotiabank, spoke in depth about being prepared when it comes to finances and retirement, and fathers were attentive during his presentation.
From there, the dads had a ball - football that is. FLOW brought out their competitive streak and had fathers juggling to compete for bragging rights and prizes. Sirs Carlo Redwood, Stephen Price, Rainford Wint, DJ Bambino, Andrew Bellamy, among others, took a spin at the mission. Semi finals incorporated ‘Guess the flavour of the baby food’, and more juggling. By finals, two Knights were left standing, Sir Andrew Bellamy who advanced from the first round and Sir Carlo Redwood, who fought his way in for his spot. Who would emerge victorious? In the end, Sir Carlo Redwood was declared the juggling winner.
As parting gifts, Knights received a swag bag from Fontana Pharmacy and a fly Gleaner Knight Box, in collaboration with Sugarplum Box. All in all, 'Knight Out' was a satiable success.
