Deputy High Commissioner, Nick Astbury, poses with the resident 'Scot' at the second annual UK in Jamaica Fair.

On February 9, the British High Commission was transformed into a replica of the United Kingdom for the second annual UK Jamaica Fair, under the theme, 'Innovation UK: Growth driven by Innovation'.

It was a day of fun and excitement for persons of all ages to have an authentic British experience in Jamaica - from food and drink, to classic cars, and iconic innovations of the past and present. Innovations such as the classic British telephone booths, a life-size replica of a double-decker bus and an old steam engine!

The afternoon’s festivities were punctuated by two major events. The first was a panel discussion tackling the topic 'Encouraging growth and better business through innovation: Lessons learnt and the way forward', featuring His Excellency Asif Ahmad CMG, British High Commissioner and other informed leaders of industry. The second event, that also closed out the evening, was the Songs of the UK in Jamaica Competition, delivered in partnership with platinum sponsor, The Jamaica National Group, where one lucky winner walked away with a trip for two to the UK, with a whole lot more prizes. Here are some of the highlights from this exciting day!
