SAJ honours stalwarts

Hamlyn McKenzie (left), accepts his award for Runner-up to Worker of the Year (third place) from Mike Henry, former Minister of Transport and Works during the 75th Anniversary Gala and Awards Banquet of the Shipping Association of Jamaica. The ceremony was held on October 30 at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel. 
Robert Bell (left), accepts his award from Derrick Kellier, Minister of Labour, Social Security and Agriculture during the Shipping Association of Jamaica's 75th Anniversary Gala. Bell was recognised for his contribution to the Shipping Industry of Jamaica by championing the role of the private sector and Port Workers, and for leading a brave stand against illegal activities at the Port of Kingston. The ceremony was held at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel on October 30.
L. Paul Scott (left), accepts his award from Derrick Kellier, Minister of Labour, Social Security and Agriculture during the Shipping Association of Jamaica's 75th Anniversary Gala. Scott was recognised for contribution to the Shipping Industry of Jamaica by championing the transformation of the Port of Kingston into a modern, efficient facility, manned by skilled and competent portworkers. The ceremony was held at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel on October 30.

Brown received the award during the Shipping Association of Jamaica's 75th Anniversary Gala and Awards Banquet on October 30. The event was held at the Jamaica Pegaus Hotel. 
Geoffrey Collyer (right), accepts his award from Derrick Kellier, Minister of Labour, Social Security and Agriculture during the Shipping Association of Jamaica's 75th Anniversary Gala. Collyer was recognised for his contribution to the Shipping Industry of Jamaica, especially his yeoman efforts at strengthening the relevance and effectiveness of the Joint Industrial Council, and for his vibrant role in the formation of the Caribbean Shipping Association. The ceremony was held at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel on October 30.

SAJ honours stalwarts

The Shipping Association of Jamaica (SAJ), in celebration of its 75th anniversary, specially recognised three past presidents who contributed to the development of the shipping industry.

Laurence Paul Scott, Geoffrey Robert Collyer and Robert Bell were recognised during the 75th Anniversary Gala and Awards Banquet hosted by the SAJ on October 30 at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel.

The banquet also saw SAJ recognising outstanding stevedores - Newton Brown, Worker of the Year; Richardo Barrett, second runner-up to Worker of the Year and Hamlyn McKenzie, third runner-up to Worker of the Year.

Workers of the Quarter were also awarded during the ceremony - Paul Marsh, first quarter; Otis Green, second quarter, and Paul Williams, third quarter.
