JP to move HQ to Newport West
The Shipping Association of Jamaica Property Limited (SAJPL) has signed an agreement with Jamaica Producers Group (JP) under which SAJPL will construct a new headquarters for JP at its Newport West complex.
The companies expressed their joint delight in what they described as a mutually satisfactory arrangement where SAJPL will begin the first phase of its master plan for the transformation of its complex into a modern logistics and trade centre, while JP deepens its commitment to Newport West, the focus of much of its recent investments.
The SAJPL complex now boasts 52,000 square feet of office and warehouse space, and the JP offices will add another 6,000 square feet. The master plan calls for a total of 104,000 square feet of modern office space on some four acres of land over the next three years. The JP office space is the first step in the realisation of the master plan.

The two companies state that the development of SAJPL's Fourth Avenue location furthers the vision of a modern Newport West emerging into a dynamic commercial space in the burgeoning logistics industry. Neighbours include Kingston Wharves Limited, which is completing the construction of a 160,000-square-foot office and warehouse complex, which already has commitments from several global blue-chip logistics customers.
JP has a long-standing commitment to Newport West through its multibillion-dollar investment in Kingston Wharves Limited, which has been a subsidiary of JP since June 2016. It is also a major shareholder in SAJPL.
For its part, SAJPL has owned property in Newport West for over 30 years and has provided space for other companies in a range of shipping and logistics-related services.
Construction of JP's new offices commenced last week and the space will be ready for occupancy in October 2017.
