Kingston Wharves develops online appointment platform for LCL warehouse services
Kingston Wharves Limited (KWL) has introduced an appointment service for its clients who are processing less-than-container load cargo, for example, pallets, boxes, barrels and other such shipments. To support that service, the company has now developed an online appointment platform that allows customs brokers, agents and freight forwarders to directly make reservations for both their commercial and personal customers who have cargo to be cleared from KWL’s Total Logistics Facility, Kingport Warehouse Complex or Berth 5 Warehouse.
Mrs Simone Murdock, marketing and client services manager at Kingston Wharves, noted: “We are making these adjustments to continue serving our valued customers in the most efficient way possible, while adhering to the national guidelines to contain the spread of COVID-19 through social distancing and other measures to keep our employees and customers safe.”
The appointment service will promote conformity to social-distancing guidelines by allowing for better regulating of the number of persons attending KWL facilities at any one time, Murdock said.
“This development also complements other actions taken to ensure social distancing, including directing clients to our online payment options to pay for cargo. Commercial transactions are now being made electronically either by e-payment at www.kingstonwharves.com; the KW Mobile App, available at the Google Play Store; or by bank transfers. Personal effects customers are also encouraged to utilise the electronic payment options,” she explained.
Turning to the new appointment platform, she underscored that it puts the power in the hands of customers to conveniently schedule their delivery, adding that customers have been advised not to attend KWL facilities without an appointment.
She disclosed that the platform, which is very user-friendly and provides real-time confirmation, can be accessed at https://kwlreservations.as.me.
Customers are asked to note the following:
• The bill of lading (BL) information is required to complete the appointment. The BL, or order, is the legal document issued by a shipping company with the description and details of the goods shipped. It should be collected from the customer’s local shipping agent or freight forwarder.
• Appointments are to be made by 2 p.m. on weekdays for next business day’s delivery.
• Express (same-day) appointments are accepted two hours before clearance time.
• A confirmation email will be sent to the customer if his or her sign-up was completed.
