R.S. Gamble (1998) Limited is celebrating its 110th year as agents of Lloyd’s of London.

R.S. Gamble was formed in 1998 after acquiring the assets of the former R.S. Gamble & Son Limited, established in 1897 by Robert Samuel Gamble, who was later joined by his son, William.

The company’s relationship with Lloyd’s, a specialist insurance and reinsurance market considered a global leader in maritime, aerospace and aviation insurance, began soon after.

That storied association is even stronger today, according to Kim Clarke, R.S. Gamble managing director, and Carol Hanson, the company’s marine insurance manager.

“The success of this relationship is due to our company’s efficiency and the relationships maintained with our clientele. We have been able to provide a class of service to the local maritime industry that has been second to none. For decades, we have proven to be a trusted and competent source of representation.”

The impact of this partnership runs deep in the maritime sector and beyond, the executives said. “As a Lloyd’s agent, we conduct a wide range of surveys needed for insurance claim purposes. These surveys include stowage of cargo, tallying, out-turn inspections, towage surveys, hatch inspection surveys, cargo surveys, cleanliness of tanks and holds, on and off hire inspection of vessels, hull surveys, pre-shipment, and risk appraisal. Our agency also conducts claim adjustment and salvaging of goods to mitigate loss,” they said, adding, “As a Lloyd’s agent, we are responsible for satisfying the needs of the commercial world.

“Lloyd’s of London is the world’s largest network of brokers, cover holders, underwriters, and agents; with that comes a prestigious reputation of trustworthiness and reliability. We are also in a unique place for collaboration, innovation, and the sharing of knowledge with experts in different areas, including, but not limited to, the maritime industry. Aside from the advancement of the local environment, we advise against costly industry incidents through our various survey reports.”

With a proven track record of providing excellent service and results for over a century, the partnership between R.S. Gamble and Lloyd’s of London will only strengthen, said Clarke and Hanson. “The future of our relationship with Lloyd’s will continue to grow as we strive to sustain and promote this alliance. We look forward to continuing reliable representation in Jamaica and the wider Caribbean region for another 110 years.”

This milestone follows yet another recent achievement of R.S. Gamble – which also offers freight, transportation, haulage, customs clearance and warehousing services – as it was announced as the non-exclusive agents in Jamaica for global operating logistics provider Kuehne+Nagel.
