The popping of bottles of wine signalled the start to the launch of With Ease Magazine's second annual SweetArt Bake Expo, last Wednesday.

Guests, participants, sponsors and the media, all gathered in the boardroom at Cru Bar and Kitchen, Lady Musgrave Road, St Andrew, to hear about all the exciting plans for this year's highly anticipated foodie event.

SHOWCASE FOR TALENT

The four-year dream of creator and With Ease Magazine's editor, Andrea Wilson-Green became a reality last year, and it was all that she had hoped for and more. This year, she again aims for the expo to showcase the amazing talent Jamaica has to offer and for participants to show and sell their unique products.

The pre-decorating cake competition and live cake-decorating challenge were hits last year, so they will be making a comeback in the line up this year.

Last year's winner of the live cake decorating challenge, Camille Flynn, thanked the organisers of the expo designed for cake bakers, and said she was looking forward to defending her title.

Several sponsors also took to the mic to pledge their support to the expo. The magazine's team said it was especially excited to have American pastry chef Mike McCarey of Mike's Amazing Cakes hosting the workshop segment of the expo, and sharing his knowledge of all things cake with designers as well as patrons.

So, come Sunday May 15, the ballroom at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel will be transformed into a baking oasis. Go out and see Jamaica's pastry talent at its best. It promises to be an incredibly sweet experience.
