Last Saturday, fashion aficionados and supporters went face to face with avant garde, thanks to style moguls Saint International. The highly anticipated Fashion Face of the Caribbean and Campari-inspired Avant Garde Designer of the Year competition got off to a late start at the Courtleigh Auditorium, but there were no complaints.

The Campari bar kept guests in high spirits with a variety of mixed cocktails - Pink Passion was among the frequently requested. Once that segment was over, all paths led to the entrance, where many lined up in earnest to take their seats.

Founder of Saint International Deiwght Peters, who hosted the night's proceedings, promised a night of celebrating all that's glitz and glamorous with dazzling images of fierce fashion and fabulosity. His attentive audience waited on bated breath to see if he would deliver.

In his introduction, Peters spoke of some of his successful models and gave some insight into their respective fashion journeys - starting with Saint International's Fashion Face of 2012 Tami Williams, who flew from a shoot overseas just to support the occasion. She was flanked by other noteworthy models who are making strides on the international scene.

 

STRUTTING IN STYLE

 

The 2018 Fashion Face of the Caribbean competition was up first. Getting funky in black, female contestants hailing from all walks of Jamaica, and one from The Bahamas, faced the music, making their strut in style and confidence. Men from Jamrock and one from Guadeloupe followed suit, changing the walk game with their suave appearances on the runway.

Then it was time for the Avant Garde Designer of the Year. The audience took a stroll down liquor lane with eight fashion inspired by the bittersweet taste of Campari.

 

WINNERS

 

More than 10 locally and internationally acclaimed trend experts judged the competitions. In the end, Tasheika Ogeare and Oshane Flemmings were declared the winners of the female and male Fashion Face of the Caribbean, respectively. While the Campari-inspired Avant Garde Designer of the Year award and prize money of $50,000 went to Rico Vassell of Rico Debonair for his piece The Coral Essence, modelled by Shanique Duhaney.
