St Ann Chamber of Commerce to honour six

Tomorrow (Saturday, May 26), the St Ann Chamber of Commerce will honour six people/organisations of the parish at a banquet to be held at Jewel Runaway Bay Resort and Spa, in the parish, commencing at 6 p.m.
The banquet is an annual event at which the chamber recognises people and organisations "that have accomplished excellence in their chosen field, along with serving the community, country and fellowman", a representative from the chamber told The Gleaner. Six awards in the following categories will be handed out: corporate, edu-cation, tourism, citizen, young entrepreneur, and the President's Award.
The spotlight could be a bit brighter for JPS when it receives the Corporate Award for being a member in good standing with the chamber, for demonstrating good corporate principles and leadership qualities, for being an established business that operates in the parish, and for being supportive of the community or a recognised charity.
For being a resident who has done or achieved some act or deed, or performed exceptionally well in her field in the parish, for having a record that is "manifested and recognised" by her peers in her community, for being recognised as an outstanding example of service by her community in which she serves, and for being actively involved with civic or community affairs in the parish or being involved for an "established period", Levone Pinnock will pick up the Citizen Award.
It will be a memorable moment, one to treasure, for Raymon Treasure, the recipient of the Education Award. He has served in the parish for no less than 10 years, has an outstanding record of achievement in the field of education, and has been involved with a community activity that has benefited his community or the parish.
TOURISM AWARD
Five Star Watersports Limited will make a big splash as it graciously receive the Tourism Award, for being a company member of the chamber that is in good standing, for being a tourism-related enterprise, for having a proven record of excellence in the field of tourism, and for being actively involved in civic and community affairs that are proven to be of benefit to its community or the parish.
The man who the president of the chamber, in his "discretion", believes "stands out in support of the chamber" more than any other is Deepak Lakhwani, who will get the President's Award.
Guest speaker for the evening is Jamaica-born Florida resident, senior pastor and media personality Dr Dennis Grant. He is the founder of A Place of Restoration Ministries, a non-denominational ministry in Florida; founding member and president of Juvenile Restoration Council, a crisis-intervention and comprehensive counselling programme for at-risk youth and their families. Dr Grant is also a member of the Tamarac North Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce in Florida; and chairman and chief executive officer of Florida Topland Inc, a land development company.
