daCosta semi clash at Juici * Glenmuir vs Clarendon at 2:30 p.m.

Patrick 'Jackie' Walters who, two years ago, led Glenmuir High to rural-area football supremacy, will be seeking to take Clarendon College to the title this year.

The Clarendon-based schoolboy football giants clash at 2:30 p.m. today at the Juici Field, for a spot in the final of the ISSA/LIME daCosta Cup football competition.

Walters, arguably one of the most inspirational schoolboy football coaches in the past 35 years, has charge of Clarendon College who are hunting their seventh title. They last won back-to-back titles in 2000-2001.

Having already led them to the the ISSA/LIME Ben Francis KO final where they were edged 6-5 on penalties by STETHS. Walters is now confident Glenmuir won't upset his daCosta Cup plans.

"Having coached Glenmuir two years, I'm well aware of their capabilities, limitations, weaknesses and strengths,"said Walters. "They will be coming to defend every blade of grass. My boys' spirits are high and we are looking forward to a good game," he added.

This might be his toughest game of the season, but the tactician knows just how to get the best from players. One such player is Craigton Charlton who has scored nine times already.

Glenmuir High School, who had success in 2012 under Walters, will be no push-overs, with tough-talking Warren Simpson at the helm.

"We defied every odds so far. It was thought that Glenmuir would not have left the group," he said. "I'm under no pressure to win. My programme is about developing players," added Simpson.

He noted that Glenmuir are ready for the challenge.

"We will not take Clarendon lightly. The team that plays the hardest and wants it the most will win," Simpson continued.

He believes the team has the quality to go all the way.

"We have been winning from team effort,"he said. "We've been scoring from every area with most players helping out," Simpson underlined. Glenmuir have scored 31 times already. Top scorer Ricardo Dennis has eight goals.
