Events Options, a local business enterprise established and run by members of the Church of God International since 2012, will be looking to impact the lives of students who attend the Salvation Army School for the Blind and Visually Impaired by donating part proceeds of funds raised from its inaugural 3K Walk-a-thon to the refurbishing of the school's derelict library.

With this undertaking, the organisers are working to boost participation, with the hope of improving the lives of the less fortunate.

Opportunities for the poor

"We want to create opportunities for members with underutilised skills and talents which can be used to empower their lives," said organiser Myrtle Barton.

"Our major objective is to create opportunities for the poor and marginalised," she added.

The 3K relay event, which was initially scheduled to take place on the grounds of the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona, on Sunday, November 30, will now take place within the first three months of 2015.

The day will begin with a lap-a-thon warm-up at 6 a.m. and the race will start at 8:30 a.m.

The 3K will take on a relay format, where teams of five will be involved in the baton exchanges. The first 2.6 kilometres will be contested on the UWI, Mona campus, while the final 400 metres will climax on the Mona Bowl's grass track.

The team that completes the route with the fastest time will be crowned Corporate 3K relay champions.

Prizes include gift baskets, trophies, medals and a day pass for the entire team at the Spanish Court Hotel in New Kingston.
