Marshall’s century propels St Catherine win

Former Jamaica youth wicketkeeper, Kemar Marshall, scored a boundary-filled 174

to help St Catherine CA record an eight-wicket win over Clarendon in their JCA Senior Cup clash at Windalco Sports Club yesterday.

The left-handed Marshall hit 19 fours and three sixes in his innings, which formed the backbone of St Catherine's first-innings score of 311.

This was in reply to a respectable 232 made by Clarendon in their first innings.

Patrick Heron, 96, and Mark Williams, 87, led the way for the losers against Anthony McLean, six for 79, and Coi Thompson, four for 60.

The 23-year-old Marshall, who has represented the Jamaica senior team twice at the one-day level, was supported by Jamari Harris.

The two, who were not out overnight on 81 and 44, respectively, put on 155 for

the second wicket, which

took away the game from Clarendon, with Harris scoring 54.

This was against another former national youth player, leg-spinner Marcel Parchment, who claimed seven for 91.

Clarendon, batting a second time, posted 152, thus setting St Catherine a victory target of 74, which they achieved at 76 for two.

Tieno Osbourne, 78, made most runs for Clarendon in their second innings, against Thompson, four for 30, and Michael Bedward, four for 28.

Sidelined West Indies and Jamaica batsman, Nkrumah Bonner, 38 not out, and Antwain Stevens, 32 not out, guided St Catherine to their target.

The result improved St Catherine's record to two wins and two draws, while Clarendon slumped to their third defeat in four.
