Devon ‘Concrete’ Moncrieffe booked his place in the quarter-finals of the Wray and Nephew Middleweight Contender series last night at the Chinese Benevolent Association in St Andrew.
The fight ended in a draw, however, judges voted two to one to declare Moncrieffe the winner over Courtney Pennington.
Judge Clifford Brown scored the fight 60 to 54 in favour of Moncrieffe, Ian Jardine scored it 58 to 56 in favour of Pennington, while Lindel Allen scored it 57 all.
According to the Contender rules once a fight ends in a draw the judges will have to decide on a winner to move on to the next round.
The competition continues next week when Tsetsi ‘Lights Out’ Davies battles Ricardo Planter in the quarter finals.
