Jamalco to heap more misery on BT

Jamalco FC will look to continue their impressive form when they face Boys' Town FC in match day six of the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) today at Barbican Complex in St Andrew. Kick-off time is 3 p.m.

The Jamalco team is having a wonderful start to life in top-flight football and is leading the 12-team league on nine points, the same as reigning champions Montego Bay United (MBU) and Humble Lion. However, hot debutants Jamalco enjoy a superior goal difference.

On the other hand, seasoned Boys' Town are struggling without a point on the board after four games played by the team.

With that scenario, the matchup, to be live on Television Jamaica, is of high interest. All eyes will be focused on Jamalco to see whether they can build on the fine start, while Boys' Town will look to score their first points of the new season.

Jamalco's head coach Rayon Johnson says that it is all about preparation for each game.

"It all boils down to team preparation. We have to keep the team focused as we can't get carried away by the start to the competition," Johnson said during the RSPL weekly press conference at Red Stripe last Thursday morning.

 

WON'T BE EASY

 

"We have to go out there and fight hard for the three points against Boys' Town. We are aware of Boys' Town's history and it won't be an easy win. We don't watch where they are in the standings. It's about going there to execute the team plan," the head coach added.

Jamalco's diminutive midfielder Rohan Richards is the competition's top scorer on four goals. However, Johnson says that other players have been contributing as it is about team effort.

"He (Richards) is in good form, but the focus is on team. We expect other players to score goals as well, moving forward," he said.

Richards apart, former Boys' Town striker AndrÈ Dawson and Sean Coleman are expected to give support.

Boys' Town's coach Andrew Price says the four losses came with mostly young players, and with the senior players like Garfield Gillespie, Wayne Ellis, Daemion Benjamin, and Asrick Samuels back in the squad after returning from the United States of America, there has been renewed energy.

"We started preseason late, and like other clubs, have suffered from senior players being overseas during the summer. Now we have them back, and they will add to the young talents that are in the squad. Shemar Nicholson has been shouldering the goalscoring on three goals. He will get quality support come Sunday," Price disclosed.

"We are aware that Jamalco is a quality team, but we will go there to execute and, hopefully, come away with a positive result," Price also said.

In another game of high interest, MBU and Humble Lion will clash in what should be a close encounter.
