After the excitement of last Saturday’s Boom Jamaica Derby, won by the outstanding filly, She’s A Maneater, action returns to normal at Caymanas Park tomorrow for a ten-race card.

The Sunrise-6, now back with its guaranteed minimum payout of $750,000, starts with a knotty event over 1300 metres for five year-old and up maidens. On paper, BREEZY, a disqualified winner on April 22, should emerge an easy winner, but, of course, races are not run on paper and the six-year-old has faced the starter three times since and placed third, second and fourth.

I will, therefore, look elsewhere for the winner, and the one who catches my fancy is another six-year-old, RUDE AWAKENING. He has done very little in eight starts, but has been looking up at exercise after a six-month break, and with the blinkers now on, can surprise.

STORMING FLYER can also pull off a win at a good price in race two. ZEEGAR, HEAT IT UP and PRINCE SAMMO will be highly fancied, but the selection comes in very light and could go all the way.

Anthony Nunes’ MUSKETOON should not be opposed in the third following his impressive second last Saturday. He lost by a short head (running on) to Moirai in a very good 1:20.3 for 1300 metres and will like tomorrow’s increased distance of 1500 metres.

SHINING LIGHT has not been seen on the track since last August, but has the class to take care of a mostly out-of-form field in race four over 1200 metres. The five-year-old was disqualified twice in his last two starts (overnight company) and the connections will be looking to recoup losses.

Philip Feanny’s debutant, JOLLY D, has been burning up the exercise track and the Traditional ­ Lil Country Gal colt should have an easy win over 1000 metres round in the fifth.
 

SAMORA, who lost by a length to Burlin over 1400 metres on May 23, gets the perfect distance tomorrow after being outsped by his rivals going 1000 metres on June 7.
