When the Jamaican team departs tomorrow for the Carifta Games in Nassau, Bahamas, it will do so without Edwin Allen's star sprinter Kevona Davis, who has withdrawn from the championship.

Davis, who broke the Class Two 100 and 200 metres records at Champs last week and who won the Under-18 100 metres gold medal at last year's Carifta Games in Curacao, has pulled out of this weekend's regional meet, due to a sore hamstring injury, which she suffered at the recent ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Athletics Championships.

The situation was confirmed by Edwin Allen coach Michael Dyke, who noted that sitting out the championships was the best thing for the athlete at this point.

''Kevona has a sore hamstring injury and the physio advised me it is in the best interest to rest her. This is very unfortunate, but it is in her best interest and the school and country, to pull her out, as she has a bigger picture, the World Under 20 Championships to think about later this year," said Dyke.
