Lewis: NJ to continue dialogue with Henry

Communications director of Netball Jamaica (NJ) Wayne Lewis has revealed that former co-coach of the national senior netball team Sasher-Gaye Henry has indicated a willingness to withdraw her resignation letter following a face-to-face meeting with the president, Dr Paula Daley-Morris, late Thursday night.

Henry, who, along with Marvette Anderson, were named co-coaches of the Sunshine Girls in July last year, resigned from the post more than a week ago.

Henry has since met with the NJ's Human Resource Committee, but that meeting ended without agreement.

The board of directors of Netball Jamaica then voted to reject Henry's resignation at an emergency meeting late Thursday evening. Lewis told The Sunday Gleaner on Friday that Henry met with Daley-Morris after the board meeting, and she expressed a willingness to continue as a coach of the national side if certain conditions are met.

"She did say that she is very interested in coaching the national team," said Lewis. He added, however, that there were some personal issues that Henry did not wish to discuss.

STILL THE NATIONAL COACH

"The dialogue will continue. It is expected that she will, at some stage in the next week and a half, address the board so that they (members of the board) can get a better understanding of what is happening," Lewis said.

"As we stand right now, she still remains the national coach while those issues that she discussed with the president, will at some stage, be brought to the board so that some of them can be addressed by the board," Lewis said.

Henry and Anderson have been in charge of the Sunshine Girls since July last year, following the resignation of Jermaine Allison-McCracken. They have since guided the Sunshine Girls to silver at the 2017 World Fast5 Series and bronze at last month's Commonwealth Games.
