Ja Women look to clinch regional double

Hosts Jamaica Women will be looking to complete the regional double when they play Leeward Islands Women in the third and final round of the West Indies Women's Super50 at Melbourne Oval today.

The Jamaicans, recent T20 champions, are presently second in the six-team tournament with nine points, one less than Barbados. Trinidad, who face Barbados at Chedwin Park in one of two other matches, are third on five points. Out-of-contention Guyana will meet Windward Islands at Kensington Park.

"It's the final round of matches so we will have to give it our best shot," said Jamaica coach, Cleon Smith.
"We want to win and gain maximum points, and if possible bonus points, as that is what currently separates us and Barbados."
Barbados, like Jamaica, won their first two matches, however, on both occasions, against Guyana and Windwards, they picked up one bonus point.
On the other hand, Jamaica picked up a bonus point in their win over Windwards, but failed to do likewise in their triumph over Trinidad.
Jamaica will again look to captain Stafanie Taylor and Chedean Nation for batting inspiration after the duo scored 40 and 72, respectively, in their seven wickets win against Windwards on Friday.
Nation also claimed two for 19 with her medium pace, while West Indies off-spinner, Vanessa Watts, picked up two for 23.
"With two seven-wicket wins so far, we are playing very good cricket, and I am looking forward to us continuing this trend against the Leewards," Smith said.
The abbreviated tournament will see the team with the most points after the three rounds declared champions.
