DEFENDING women's champion Stephenie Ann McPherson and last year's  runner-up in the men's 400 metres, Demish Gaye, are the fastest qualifiers for Sunday's finals in the one lap event at the JAAA/Supreme Ventures Senior and Junior Championships.
McPherson won semi-final two in 51.20 seconds, ahead of Junelle Bromfield 52.30 and Kaliese Spencer, 52.40 on Saturday night at the National Stadium.
Anastasia Le-Roy, the second fastest qualifier, captured heat one in 52.04, defeating Tovea Jenkins, 52.23, and  Alisha Kelly, 53.61 .
Christine Day took heat three in 52.05,  ahead of Derriann Hill, 52.84.
Demish Gaye looked quite relaxed  in clocking 45.52  in heat one of the men's 400m. Fitzroy Dunkley, 45.94, and Jermaine Gayle, 46.82, were second and third respectively.
Former champion Javon Francis, 46.56, crossed the line first in heat two ahead of Devaughn Baker (46.58) and Stephen Gayle, 46.63.
Schoolboy Christopher Taylor of Calabar High won heat three in 46.34 from Rusheen McDonald, 46.83.
Francis may not compete in the final. He was taken off the track on a stretcher and in tears after he re-aggravated the knee injury which kept him out of competition last year.
