Arnett Gardens FC head coach Jerome 'Jerry' Waite said that his team's preparation for the second edition of the CONCACAF League kicked off yesterday and he said that the club is looking forward to exposing players to professional clubs overseas.

Arnett Gardens won the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) two seasons ago and will now tackle Arabe Unido of Panama in the round of 16 two-way stage. The 'Junglists' will play away on July 31 and then at home on August 9.

We will use the Internet to gather information about our opponent. The teams will use the league to showcase talent for overseas clubs," Waite told The Gleaner ahead of yesterday's first training session in preparation for the games.

Our preparation started today, and like the other clubs engaged in the round of 16, the aim is to win and move on to the bigger stage. I don't know the players available as yet, but they are expected to turnout as everybody want to play in the CONCACAF League," he shared.

Among the players expected to feature are national players such as Damion Hyatt and Marvin Morgan, alongside Vishinul Harris, Renae Lloyd, Fabian Reid. The winners of the 2018 CONCACAF League will qualify for the 2019 CONCACAF Champions League to join the 15 direct entrants.

Olimpia are the title holders, but will not qualify for this tournament and will be unable to defend their title. Consequently, their streak of participating in all 10 editions of the CONCACAF Champions League since 2008 has ended.
