Sunshine Girls goalshooter Thristina Harwood has set her sights on winning her second Most Valuable Player (MVP) award at next month's World Fast5 Netball Championships in Australia.

The 24-year-old Harwood, who won the MVP award in 2013, said she has been working very hard in training for the tournament and expects to do well.

"We have been preparing ourselves well for this tournament. I have been doing well with my shots because at the Fast5, goals win games, and my shooting has been excellent in training," said Harwood, who last represented the Sunshine Girls in the tournament in 2014.

"My training has been so good that my teammates have been saying, 'Thristina, you are going to get the MVP', and this has boosted my confidence and so, hopefully, I can get back the title," she said.

Harwood added: "I am really excited. I actually love this version of the game, and I am confident that I will do well in the tournament and this year Jamaica will win," Harwood said.

Jamaica finished second at last year's tournament, and Harwood said that they are very determined to win this year's title.

"We have never won it before, and so we are going there focused to win it," Harwood said.

A very powerful team has been selected for this year's championships. The squad includes Romelda Aiken, who is rated as one of the best shooters in the world.

The other members of the squad are Shamera Sterling, Vangelee Williams, Jodi-Ann Ward, Stacian Facey, Khadijah Williams, Adean Thomas, Shanice Beckford, and Shimona Nelson.
