Portland PYC, Uprising clash in INSPORTS netball

 

Portland PYC and Uprising will lock horns for the second time this season when they meet in the INSPORTS All-Island Community Netball quarter-finals at Titchfield High tomorrow. Match time is 3 p.m.

Both sides contested the Portland parish final of the competition, with Portland PYC crowned champions. However, Uprising will be seeking to upset the applecart and guarantee themselves a piece of the prize money.

In other quarter-final games elsewhere on the day, L&Y Oracabessa hosts Kingston's Eastwood Park at Marymount High School, Summerfield of Clarendon travel to Lyssons, St Thomas to play Morant Bay Uprising, while St Catherine's Frasers do battle with Liguanea at the Scotia Sports Club.

All games are scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.

 

Youth Mini Basketball tourney today

 

The Youth Mini Basketball playoffs and final will be held today at the Calabar High School court starting at 10 a.m.

Nine teams, in three groups, will be gunning for the championship trophy.

Group One: Real Lions, Payne Land, Tivoli Gardens.

Group Two: Majesty Gardens, Spanish Town Spartans, Harbour View

Group Three: Rae Town, Blazin Panthers, Duhaney Park

The three zone winners and best second place will advance to semifinals

Three straight for Rex James, Judy Ziadie

 

Following up on their win on September 5, the pair of Rex James & Judy Ziadie made it three in a row as they dominated both bridge sessions last week with a 71.3 per cent and 72.5 per cent game on the respective evenings. On Monday September 10, second place was shared by two pairs, Richard Phillips - Peter Mais and Carol Coore - Audley Astwood both on 60 per cent. On Wednesday September 12 the runner-up position was captured by Monica Cools-Lartigue and Jethro Fraser, again with 60 per cent.

The Jamaica Bridge Association hosts sessions on Monday and Wednesday evenings at the Liguanea Club, New Kingston, starting at 7 p.m. each evening.
