Holy Trinity High School coach Devon Anderson said that their 2-1 defeat to Wolmer's last Friday was so devastating that they had still not got over it when they faced Pembroke Hall in their Group G ISSA/Digicel Manning Cup match on Monday. Holy Trinity defeated Pembroke Hall 7-0 in that game, but Anderson said that that did very little to lift the gloom that was hanging over the team following the Wolmer's setback.

However, he is hoping that they can rediscover their confidence, as he believes this team is capable of going all the way in the competition this year.

"I don't think we have bounced back as yet. We are still hurt by that game, although you cannot cry over spilt milk. We have to try remotivate the guys and try to put the loss behind us and try to move into the second round," he said.

Holy Trinity have become one of the main title contenders over the last five years, and Anderson believes that this team has what it takes to win something.

'Aim is to win'

"I hope to win something, that's our aim, the Manning Cup. Outside of that, we have a young bunch of guys, and although the crop is ripe, whatever they give me, I will gladly take it and move on. But I am very confident in them," Anderson said.

Even though the performance against Pembroke Hall did very little to elevate their spirits, Anderson was pleased with the players' execution in front of goal.

"(That) performance wasn't a hundred per cent but we executed better in front of goal than a few days ago when it was like we visited the bar too much. We finished better, we got a few early chances and we made use of them, hence the game became a bit easier, because you know how boys are, when goals start going in they drop their heads, so we took home this game with the chances we got.

He added:"We know the difficulties of this field to play on it but we train on something like this, so we were at home. We manipulated the stones, and it was not as difficult as the first (game) one we played against them," he commented.

They will face Jose Marti in Spanish Town today and are expected to confirm their spot in the next round with a win against the cellar dwellers.
