Portmore United’s Rondee Smith (foreground) goes up for a header with Tivoli Gardens defender Kemar Seivwright in their Red Stripe Premier League encounter at the Spanish Town Prison Oval earlier this month.

The Red Stripe Premier League's (RSPL) top striker, Rondee Smith (with six goals), has proven in his short time in the league that he knows how to find the net, but the former Manchoniel player stressed that his focus is to help the team meet its objectives.

Portmore and Smith entertain Tivoli Gardens at the Spanish Town Prison Oval this afternoon at 3:00, and Smith, who has four assists and one goal in his last two matches, helping Portmore come from behind to win those games, is eager to extend that form today.

"It is going to be tough, but we will try to do our best. At all times, we show up and try to give a good performance. They (Tivoli) are good defensively and offensively, they rarely give up goals, so we will have to try our best to break them down.

"But we have to keep up with them if we are to get the desired result. We have to play as individuals and collectively, and if we do that, we should be okay," Smith told The Gleaner.

In their last two matches, the champions rallied to snatch all three points, and in both those games, Smith scored and provided two assists. Against Dunbeholden, he made the first go-ahead goal then assisted the winner.

Against Reno on Sunday, he provided assists for Javon East and Ricardo Morris to help the team overturn a 2-0 deficit. He then cemented the win with a fourth goal in the 73rd minute.

However, Smith is looking to continue his red-hot form in this midweek fixture when they take on third-placed Tivoli Gardens in the feature match of the round.

"From the get-go, I always play to help my team in the best way possible. That has always been a part of my game. I am a team player," Smith said.

In other games, Montego Bay United host UWI FC at Catherine Hall, while Humble Lion welcome Mount Pleasant to Effortville in the other 3 p.m. kick-offs. At 7 p.m., Harbour View will face Dunbeholden at the Harbour View Stadium, while Waterhouse will play host to Reno at Drewsland. Cavalier will play Arnett Gardens at 5 p.m at Stadium East.
