Reno's Drummond remains positive

Reno coach Godfrey Drummond believes their 0-0 draw against high-flying Cavalier at Stadium East in their 15th-round Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) game on Sunday is reason for him to be positive going into their run of games over the holidays.

Reno took a valuable point playing away to Cavalier on the weekend, and Drummond said his team can be pleased with some of the things accomplished in that game and use, as motivation going into upcoming matches.

"We are fighting at the base of the table, and what we want is to get some positive results. It will be a very busy Christmas season as we have about five games over the next three weeks. So we will have to manage the players as best as possible," Drummond said.

"But once we are able to do that, come January, we will be able to strengthen the squad and get in some new players. But we have to be thankful because the players are positive in training and they are putting in the work and we are seeing results," he said.

GOOD PERFORMANCE

The draw was Reno's second consecutive point and keeping a clean sheet has become a priority for the Westmoreland-based club in recent weeks.

"We set certain objectives, one of which was not to concede, and we came and didn't concede. It [Cavalier draw] is a positive result for us. It's suffice to say that we came on the road and wanted a positive result and got it," added Drummond.

"It was a favourable performance against a very organised Cavalier team as I thought we gave as good as we got, and, with a little luck, we could have got that all-important goal that could have given us all three points. But we'll take the point," he continued.

"We have a game coming up on Wednesday (today), so it's a positive going into that game. We are working on the defensive end, but at the same time, we are still trying to get someone to score the goals. Once we get that, then we can start getting the positive results and start moving ourselves up the table," Drummond said.
