The Barbados Pride hold the advantage against the Jamaica Scorpions as they head into what should be an intriguing third day in their Cricket West Indies Professional Cricket League Regional 4-Day game at Sabina Park on Saturday. The visitors ended Friday's play on 179 for six in their second innings, an overall lead of 260.

The Scorpions started day two on a shaky 53 for six in reply to the Pride's 219. The home team got some valuable lower order runs and were eventually bowled out for 138. Wicketkeeper Dennis Smith made a fighting top score of 35 while Derval Green made 25. Chemar Holder did not add to his wicket tally from day one, and ended with five for 45. Keon Harding claimed two for 29 while Kemar Roach bagged two for 27.

With an 81 run first innings lead, Pride started off shakily in their second innings and were reeling at 58 for four at one stage. The chief architect of that early destruction was pacer Nicholson Gordon, who took three of the first four wickets to fall. At that stage, the game was in the balance but a stubborn fifth wicket stand of 112 between Shane Dowrich and Kyle Mayers wrestled the initiative from the Scorpions and put the Barbados Pride in control. Dowrich went late in the afternoon for a mature 73. Mayers scored his second half century in the game, following up his 53 in the first innings with the same score in the second, before he was dismissed leg before wicket to what turned out to be the last ball of the day. Ashley Nurse will resume this morning on two. Gordon ended with three for 27 from 12 impressive overs. Patrick Harty has so far claimed two for 25. Play resumes on Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
