Fowler demands limited turnovers

National senior netball captain Jhaniele Fowler says the Sunshine Girls must limit their turnovers to secure a positive result against rivals England Roses in their Vitality Netball Nations Cup match at the Copper Box Arena in London at noon today.
The winner of this match will face world champions New Zealand in the final tomorrow. New Zealand, who are unbeaten in the tournament so far, are atop the table with two wins. They are followed by England and Jamaica with one win each, and South Africa who have lost both of their matches.
The Jamaicans, who are ranked fourth in the world, one place below England, have been plagued by turnovers in this tournament, which head coach Connie Francis said was responsible for their 71-45 loss to New Zealand in Birmingham on Wednesday.
‘Remain focused’
Fowler said the Sunshine Girls must stick to their game plan and remain focused throughout to be victorious against the Roses today.
“It is going to be a very challenging one because we know that England is going to come as hard as us but we are ready for it,” she said. “We need to control our turnovers and take care of our possessions and once we do this, then we should come out victorious. We need not play at their fast pace, and play our style of netball because we know that we can beat any team once we stay focused and play according to our game plan.”
She says that the team has regrouped well since the defeat to New Zealand and says everyone is looking forward to this encounter against the English, who defeated them at the Netball World Cup last July in Liverpool.
“The team is feeling really good and training sessions have been good because we have worked on the things that we need to work on ahead of this game,” Fowler said.
