TRAINER Gary Subratie yesterday saddled three winners, including back-to-back victories at five furlongs straight, CLEOPATRA’S CHILD and BOLD AFLAIR in the eighth and ninth races, respectively.

Subratie closed the 11-race card and his three-timer with last year’s Jamaica Derby runner-up, SENTIENT, practically down in class, running among $1 million optional claimers, his only serious opponent being improved KINGSMAN, who he rushed past a furlong out to beat by two and three-quarter lengths at seven and a half furlongs, clocking 1:31.2.

CLEOPATRA’S CHILD, unfortunately disqualified after passing the post in front two weeks ago when jockey Dane Dawkins weighed in short of the declared 120lb, returned as a winner without a penalty, making all to beat UNKNOWN SOLDIER in 1:00.1.

In the day’s overnight allowance, BOLD AFLAIR used his perfect stands’ side draw and benefit of returning at the exact weight from his last race, to make all the running.

One of four runners, who featured in a bang-up finish behind DUNROBIN three weeks ago, United States-bred BOLD AFLAIR outsprinted rivals to win by a widening four lengths ahead of another course specialist and former stablemate, KD FLYER.

CAMPESINO and CRYPTOCURRENCY, breaking from post-positions one and two, respectively, were outsped from poor draws and both weakened inside the last furlong.

A rank outsider, 24-1 shot, NUCLEAR THUNDER, closed for third, relegating CAMPESINO to fourth as BOLD AFLAIR cruised home with Anthony Thomas in 59.0 seconds for the trip.

Racing continues at Caymamas Park on Saturday.
