Legendary WI batsman Sir Everton Weekes passes away

Sir Everton Weekes, the legendary West Indies batsman has died.

He was 95 years-old.

Cricket West Indies expressed sadness at the icon's passing through a social media post that read: "Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of an icon. A legend, our hero, Sir Everton Weekes. Our condolences go out to his family, friends and many fans around the world."

Weekes is one of the most celebrated West Indies batsmen and represented the regional side in 48 Tests matches from 1948 to 1958, scoring alsmot 4,500 runs at an average of 58.61. He recorded a top score of 207 and registered 15 centuries and 19 half centuries in a glittering career.

He formed one third of the famed '3Ws' along with Frank Worrell and Clyde Walcott.
