SOUTHAMPTON, England, (CMC):
Persistent drizzles have delayed the toss on the opening morning of the historic first Test between West Indies and England here.
Players and officials have been kept from the field by the adverse weather, which has also brought chilly temperatures of below 20 degrees Celsius.
Play was expected to get underway at 11:00 am (5:00 am Jamaica time) but will now be delayed.
An early lunch has been taken with play now scheduled to begin at 7:10 am Jamaica time, if the weather allows.
The Ageas Bowl is the venue for the first Test of cricket’s first-ever “bio-secure” series, played amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Old Trafford in Manchester will be the stage for the second and third Tests later this month.
