Reigning Olympic 110m hurdles champion Omar McLeod got his 2020 season started with a third-place finish in the men’s 100-yard dash at the Zurich Inspiration Games yesterday.

McLeod, who was running the 100 yard (91m) event for the first time in his career, finished in a time of 9.87 seconds, behind Andre de Grasse of Canada, and Frenchman Jimmy Vicaut, who finished in 9.68s and 9.72s, respectively.

All men are trained by coach Rada Reider, and competed from their club’s base in Jacksonville, Florida. The Inspiration Games is a unique circuit where athletes compete simultaneously in various events from different locations around the world. This is because the COVID-19 pandemic has prevented many athletes from travelling for the Wanga Diamond League, which would have been taking place instead.
