Garth Gayle is the new president of the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA), after defeating Jamaican sprinting great Donald Quarrie 236 to 28 at the body's Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the National Arena on Saturday.

Gayle, who served as Honorary Secretary for the past 20 years, replaces Dr Warren Blake, who did not seek re-election.

Members will also decide on a new Honorary Secretary and Director of Records, as well as several other posts at today's AGM.

Long-time Assistant Secretary Marie Tavares is going up against veteran sports administrator Anthony Davis, while incumbent Director of Records Leroy Cooke is being challenged by Wayne Long.

There are 261 duly registered individual members and 34 clubs participating in the process.
