Subratie scores three-timer

LATE-CHARGING CRIMSON closed a three-timer for leading trainer Gary Subratie yesterday, nabbing ageing warrior SUPERLUMINAL at the wire in the Alexander Hamilton Trophy feature at a mile.

CRIMSON won by a neck under claiming rider, Tevin Foster, who got the in-form five-year-old going inside the last half-furlong to take aim at SUPER conjured a late kick from even-money favourite, CRIMSON, to nail SUPERLUMINAL, winning by a neck in 1:39.3.

SUPERLUMINAL was caught stealing home under Dane Dawkins after getting rid of speedy ENGLAND'S ROSE and settled my sail for home.

Subratie had won the previous event with PAPITO after landing the fourth with SIR ARJUN BABA with 2019 champion rider, Christopher Mamdeen.

Meanwhile, Dane Nelson rode a three-timer, starting with VAMPIRE REJECTION in the first race, followed by back-to-back victories astride WILL AT WAR and PAPITO in the sixth and seventh events, moving to 13 winners, joining injured Oshane Nugent, two behind fellow co-champion, Anthony Thomas, in the jockeys' standings.

Nelson and Thomas tied for last year's jockeys' title after both reported sick on the final day of the season.

Racing continues with a Saturday-Sunday meet at the weekend.
