Jamaica’s Danielle Williams, the 2015 World Championships 100m hurdles gold medallist, was in fantastic form at Sunday’s fourth and final leg of the American Track League in Fayetteville, Arkansas, as she raced to a personal-best 7.86 seconds to win the finals of the Women’s 60m hurdles.

Williams, who was competing in the event for the third time this season, was the fastest qualifier after winning her heat in 7.90 seconds, with main rival Tonea Marshall of the United States stopping the clock at 7.95 seconds in her heat.

There was some concern for Williams after the finish of the race, as she was taken off the track after a slight injury.

Despite an average start in the final, the Jamaican found top speed near home to win going away, as Marshall had to settle for second in 7.89 seconds, with Cindy Sember, formerly Offili, of Great Britain taking third in 8.01 seconds.

POOR START

“It was a poor start for me as I was a bit nervous, as this was the first time this season I was racing with professionals. I am happy to be back competing this season after missing a year of competition, as I love to compete,” said Williams after the race.

Chris-Ann Gordon, a member of Jamaica’s 4x400m relay team at the Beijing Olympic Games, making her indoor season debut, finished second in the women’s 400m in 52.06 seconds. The United States’ Shamier Little won in a personal-best 50.57 seconds, as Paola Moran of Mexico took third, also in a personal-best 52.78 seconds.

The other Jamaican at the meet, Rajay Hamilton, just missed out on a top three finish in the men’s 800m, after clocking a personal-best 1:47.57 seconds for fourth, as Michael Saruni of Kenya won in 1:45.34 seconds.
