CAPTUREMYSHIP went gate-to-wire with in-form claiming rider Tevin Foster, outsprinting rivals in yesterday’s Sydney Watson Memorial for overnight allowance runners at five furlongs straight.

Breaking smartly from post-position five, the seven-year-old, a five-furlong straight specialist, raced clear of runner-up FORMAL GLADIATOR and third-place CHACE THE GREAT to clock 1:01.1 for the distance.

Aaron Chatrie rode two winners on the nine-race card, favourites SWEET MEDICINE and ATTORNEY GENERAL, in the sixth and eighth, respectively, before having his jockey’s objection overruled aboard DOOM PATROL, runner-up to PAPA ALBERT in the fourth event.

Meanwhile, LUCKY NINE stayed on grimly at long odds of 28-1 in the third race, with claiming rider Matthew Bennett, resulting in 17 winning tickets each picking up $1,035,150 in the Reggae 6’s mandatory payout.

Drawn mid-pack in the five-furlong round $180,000 claiming event for five-year-olds and upwards who have not earned $130,000 since last October, the eight-year-old grey made all the running to win by three-quarter length ahead of 7-5 favourite CAT’S RIGGER.

Debutante SECRET IDENTITY was also another Reggae 6 upsetter, landing the fifth event at surprisingly long odds of 9-1.

Racing continues on Saturday.
