Hoping to further their chances of capturing the boys' title at this year's ISSA/Gracekennedy Boys' and Girls Athletics Championships, Kingston College (KC) qualified for all but one of the 4x100-metre relay finals inside the National Stadium this evening.

In Class One, KC qualified with the fastest time of 40.27 seconds, just ahead of Edwin Allen, 40.64. St Elizabeth Technical had the third-fastest time with 40.82.

Meanwhile, in Class Two, it was Calabar High that set the pace, qualifying with 41.97. Jamaica College had the second-fastest time with 42.17 and KC rounded out the top three with 42.26.

However, it was not all smooth sailing for the purples who were shocked in the Class Three event, dropping the baton in a heat they were doing well in. While KC did pick up the baton and managed to finish, their eventual disqualification put paid to their hopes of picking up valuable points in the event.

Calabar High leads the field among the Class Threes with a time of 44.68. St Jago High had the second-fastest time with 45.35 and St Catherine High had the third-fastest time, finishing their heat in 46.01.

Defending champions, Jamaica College, were a little safer and while they didn't light up he preliminary rounds, all their teams are through witha chance to earn valuable points.

The 4x100 relays will be run at 7:20 p.m. on Saturday.
