Supreme Song’s redemption on the cards

SUPREME SONG, half-brother to 2019 St Leger runner-up Toona Ciliata, touted by the railbirds in November as Anthony Nunes’ “classic horse”, only to finish five lengths behind POWER at six furlongs, should return a winner in Saturday’s Farriers’ Association feature at the exact trip among three-year-old maidens.

Despite showing speed at exercise, losing HOIST THE MAST in a five-furlong gallop a week prior, SUPREME SONG was surprisingly outsped by BABYLIKE being tracked by POWER, who ran through off the home turn to win going away.

SUPREME SONG, however, stayed on to go by BABYLIKE a furlong out to claim second, finishing in 1:14.4 behind the POWER’s 1:14.0. POWER finished fourth in Sunday’s Prince Consort Stakes at seven furlongs and was also on the board in his two previous races, the Sir Howard Stakes and Pick 3 Super Challenge as a two-year-old, performances which point to SUPREME SONG’s ability.

Though he hasn’t exactly been ripping the exercise track for his second coming, SUPREME SONG’s five-and-a-half in 1:08.2, out the mile chute, last Monday morning, accompanying Sir Howard Stakes runner-up, SHADOW FAX, should easily have maidens on the run.

GET A PEPSI and MILA’s ALL THAT, DOUBLE CROWN’s half-brother, have the best form to recommend among SUPREME SONG’s rivals. GET A PEPSI returns treated with lasix after three starts, his best being a third-place run behind THIRTYONEKISSES when stretched out at seven and a half furlongs, suggesting he would be more comfortable in a slower pace.

MILA’S ALL THAT was particularly disappointing at five and a half furlongs on his third start last out, finishing fifth behind PRINCESS ALAINA, third into the lane, after being slowly into stride, then flattening over the last furlong.

Similar to GET A PEPSI, MILA’S ALL THAT appears to prefer a mild pace, mowed down by NEFERTARI after dictating the fractions at six and a half furlongs in his previous start. Also, being DOUBLE CROWN’s half-brother doesn’t help his sprint cause any.
