Bolt in action for Soccer Aid tomorrow
Sprinting legend Usain Bolt will be back competing at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park tomorrow, but not in his spikes, as he will lace up his football boots to compete at the Soccer Aid for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
“London, I’m back! 10 years on from the Olympic Games,” Bolt wrote on an Instagram post. “I’ll be back (at the) London Stadium for my fourth Soccer Aid for UNICEF UK.”
The event is now in its 11th staging and Bolt will captain the Soccer Aid’s World XI team in the UNICEF celebrity charity football match aimed at raising money to help children in need.
The many-time Olympic champion will be joined on his team by football icons Patrice Evra (France), Andriy Shevchenko (Ukraine), Cafu (Brazil), Dimitar Berbatov (Bulgaria), two-time Olympic gold medallist Carli Lloyd (United States) and English songwriter and footballer Chelcee Grimes.
They will face an England outfit featuring former Manchester United star Gary Neville, Italian football legend Andrea Pirlo, English footballers Jamie Carragher, Teddy Sheringham, David James; former Czech Republic footballer Petr Cech, team Great Britain’s football stars Eni Aluko, Anita Asante and Fara Williams; and four-time Olympic champion Mo Farah.
The event’s venue is also where Bolt won three of his eight Olympic gold medals.
