Powerlifting association launches Hall of Fame

National Powerlifting Association of Jamaica (NPAJ) has launched a Hall of Fame.

The administration of the NPAJ opened the Hall of Fame, inviting its first inductees during its inaugural awards ceremony two Saturdays ago.

Howard Hamilton, who passed away in 2021, a founding father of the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF), was named the Hall of Fame’s first inductee. The federation’s first board saw the Jamaican serving as a vice president.

TOP AWARD

The top award of the evening was the 2021 Athlete of the Year award.

National powerlifters Sami Depass and Scott Jennings won the women’s and men’s titles, respectively.

There were also winners in the areas of Top Committee and there were certificates of National Duty, Certificates of Excellence, as well as well as Certificates of Appreciation.

There was also an award for going beyond the call of duty.
