Bahamas’ double Olympic gold medallist, Shaunae Miller-Uibo, has finally added a World Championship title over 400 metres after dominating a strong field at the Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon earlier this evening.

Miller-Uibo stopped the clock in a world-leading 49.11 seconds, to stand at the head of a Caribbean sweep of the medals.

The Dominican Republic’s Marileidy Paulino, who ran 49.60, was expected to challenge Miller-Uibo, but her late charge made no impression, her silver medal just reward for the effort.

Barbados’ Sada Williams, who clocked a national record 49.75, mined bronze for Barbados.

The Jamaican pair of Stephenie-Ann Mcpherson (50.36) and Candice Mcleod (50.78) finished fifth and seventh respectively.
