Bennett set to replace Shaw as KSAFA boss

Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) second vice president Mark Bennett is expected to succeed outgoing president Wayne Shaw when affiliates cast their votes to elect a new leader this afternoon at the office of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF).
Shaw handed in his resignation last week after five years in office and today’s special general meeting (SGM) was arranged specifically to choose his replacement.
Checks by The Gleaner have revealed that Bennett is the only nominee for the top post and according to KSAFA first vice president Carvel Stewart, they do not anticipate another hat in the race for the presidency.
“I doubt very much that there will be another nominee,” Stewart told The Gleaner.
Bennett, a former president of Brown’s Town FC, has served as second vice president of KSAFA since 2017.
Bennett also stated recently that he would consider the post if called upon and there were no other candidates.
Shaw, who had one year left in his tenure, took over from previous president Ambassador Stewart Stephenson, who also resigned two years into his four-year term.
