#Champs2023 | KC’s Bouwahjgie Nkrumie smashes Class One 100m record

Kingston College’s (KC) ace sprinter Bouwahjgie Nkrumie erased Zharnel Hughes’ record of 10.13 in the semifinals of the Class One boys’ 100 metres, punching his ticket to tonight’s final after a blistering 10.08 seconds at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls’ Athletics Championships at the National Stadium.
Nkrumie is touted by pundits, to be the first high school athlete to dip under the 10-second barrier.
In Class Two, St. Elizabeth Technical’s (STETHS) Tramaine Todd heads into the night’s final with the fastest time, following his speedy and controlled 10.51 with Calabar’s Shaqaune Gordon in second with 10.61 and KC’s Nicardo Clarke with 10.70.
In the boys’ Class Three semifinals, KC’s Joshua Spence, running in heat one, is the fastest to tonight’s final, as he sped to 10.94 seconds. STETHS’s Shaun Lewis, with a time of 11.04 and St. Jago’s Rahj Reece, with 11.07 join Spence as the top three athletes heading into the final.
